On January 30, the UNC Charlotte Graduate School announced that Dr. Olya Keen, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is the latest recipient of the Thomas L. Reynolds Leadership Award.

The award, named in honor of Dean Emeritus Tom Reynolds, is the university’s premier recognition for Graduate Program Directors who demonstrate excellence in the management and growth of graduate education. For Dr. Keen, the honor reflects years of dedication to fostering a rigorous yet supportive environment for the next generation of engineers.

“Graduate Program Directors play a pivotal role in the success of our students, often working behind the scenes to manage enrollment, track progress, and implement services that help students thrive,” noted the Graduate School in its award criteria. Dr. Keen has excelled in these duties, serving as a bridge between faculty expectations and student aspirations.

The Thomas L. Reynolds Leadership Award includes a $1,000 prize, an engraved plaque, and the addition of Dr. Keen’s name to the perpetual trophy on permanent display on campus. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Olya Keen on this well-deserved honor.
