UNC Charlotte Civil Engineering Shines at 2025 ASCE Carolinas Conference
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNC Charlotte is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its student teams at the 2025 ASCE Carolinas Conference. Competing against top universities from across the region, UNC Charlotte earned an impressive 2nd place overall.
Concrete Canoe – 1st overall

The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the Concrete Canoe Team, which swept several major categories and secured 1st place overall in the competition. Their dedication, innovation, and engineering excellence were reflected in their top finishes:
- Technical Proposal – 1st
- Technical Presentation – 2nd
- Best Final Product – 1st
- Overall – 1st
Thanks to this remarkable performance, the team has earned a coveted spot at the ASCE Concrete Canoe National Competition, which will be held at Cal Poly in late June. The entire department is incredibly proud and excited to support them on the national stage.
UNC Charlotte also made strong showings in other events, showcasing the breadth and depth of talent within the civil engineering student body:
