Recognition of Retiring and Departing Faculty

As we bid farewell to the academic year, we also pause to honor the remarkable contributions of three members of our Civil and Environmental Engineering department who are embarking on new chapters in their lives.

Retiring Faculty Members:

Dr. Rajaram Janardhanam: With 44 years of dedicated service to our department, Dr. Janardhanam leaves behind a legacy of excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship. His passion for geotechnical engineering and his commitment to student success have inspired individuals throughout his tenure. Dr. Janardhanam’s expertise will be missed.

Dr. Janos Gergely: As a respected figure in the field of structural engineering, Dr. Gergely has made invaluable contributions to our department over the past 26 years. His dedication to advancing disaster relief efforts and his mentorship of students have left an indelible mark on our department. Dr. Gergely’s departure leaves a void, but his legacy of innovation, scholarship, and dedication to his students will endure as a guiding light for future generations of engineers.

Departing FacultY Member:

Dr. Erika Weber: After 10 years of service, Dr. Weber will be leaving our department to pursue new opportunities. Her expertise in structural engineering and her dedication to teaching and outreach have enriched our academic community. Dr. Weber has served as the faculty advisor for the American Society of Civil Engineers student chapter. Dr. Weber’s departure represents a loss for our department, but we are grateful for her contributions and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.

As we reflect on the collective impact of Drs. Janardhanam, Gergely, and Weber, we are reminded of the profound influence that faculty members have on the lives of students and the trajectory of our department. Their passion, expertise, and commitment to excellence have shaped the minds of future engineers and propelled our department to new heights of success.

As they embark on new adventures, we extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Drs. Janardhanam, Gergely, and Weber. Though they may be leaving our department, their influence will continue to inspire and guide us as we forge ahead into the future.

Please join us in expressing our gratitude and appreciation for the dedication and service of these esteemed faculty members. Their presence will be deeply missed, but their legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who have had the privilege of learning from them.
